It Was Kind Of Funny, But Now It's Just Kind of Sad

I have to admit, I have always been a little bit of a Charlie Sheen fan.  I mean I sort of grew up watching him, felt like he was part of the 80's "Brat Pack" the "Breakfast Club" even though he actually wasn't.  I crushed on him as the preppy good guy Cappie in LUCAS

AND as the bad boy hanging with Jeannie at the police station in FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF

More recently I would catch an episode or two of Charlie Harper on TWO AND A HALF MEN where art imitates, or maybe even mocks, life.

Over the years we have all seen his personal life fall apart on the Evening News reports.   And then about two weeks ago... it got worse, much worse.  Ok I freely admit that at first I couldn't help but watch the interviews and follow all of the on-line reports of his antics.  It's kind of like the car/train wreck that you can't help but look at.   And maybe I even laughed at some of his comments at first (ok i laughed at lots of them).  But now, now it's just all becoming SAD.  He is exploiting all that is wrong with society these days (ugh I sound like I'm 90 yrs old).  But seriously, I am sad for his kids, his ex-wives, the goddesses and for everyone whose employment is/was contingent upon him.  Hopefully soon he start thinking about how his behavior affects them, and maybe even get the help he needs.

Rant over....
Now, Never let it be said that I've got a stick up my butt (well sometimes I do, but not in this case) because believe me I DO love a good laugh.    This situation has certainly given the talk shows and comedians a lot of great material.  Here's one of my favorite sketches to come out of this mess LOL

Update:  NBC has taken the video I wanted to post here down from You Tube.  But you can see it here

I've actually never been a fan of his...never thought he was attractive or a good actor. I forgot he was in Ferris Bueller's Day Off! Ok, that one was funny. Anyway, I loved all the interviews and quotes, too, but now I completely agree it is old. I think he now thinks people are laughing with him, not at him, and following his example. His "coolness" will (hopefully!) be gone as quickly as it came [on Twitter]. Please let everyone understand that he is a lunatic and a bad husband/boyfriend, father, son, brother, co-worker, employee...the dude is not of this reality.

BTW...the video doesn't work...what is the link?
